In late March I published an Appeal to End the War in Ukraine undersigned by four Members of the European Parliament and by a number of social activists from across Europe. See https://gilbertdoctorow.com/2023/03/22/an-appeal-to-end-the-war/
That appeal was the end product of a conference convened in the European Parliament building days earlier by MEP from Latvia Tatjana Zdanoka. She has now been putting up on the internet recordings from the proceedings, and I just came across the video of my presentation to the conference which I recommend because of the issues I put on the table. These include 1) what is the value of attempts by opponents of the war parties in power in Europe and the USA to inform public opinion and so change the course of the war and 2) where is there still open discussion of the causes of the conflict (USA) and where is there cruel state censorship that reinforces state propaganda on the war (Europe).
Our public life is changing with blinding speed and my remarks in this video about Tucker Carlson at Fox News in the USA and about Press TV (Iran) as sources of truly independent thinking on the conflict have to be reconsidered in light of the firing of Carlson and the new blocking of Iran’s servers. But that is a subject for another day.
